Soumhya Venkatesan completed her PhD at Cambridge in 2002 and is currently Lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester. Her research interests include art and craft, weaving, Islam, development, description and representation, and material culture. Her regional specialization is in South Asia, especially India, and Uzbekistan.
