Evaluation

A participatory evaluation of the value and impact of arts activities on health and wellbeing

The aim of the Invest to Save: Arts in Health evaluation is broadly to explore the value and impact of arts activities on the health and well being of target groups within the North West region. The process of evaluation seeks to explore the value, relevance and benefits to society , economy and culture of arts and health projects (ACE, 2004) and the individual benefit, meaning and value for individuals and communities of arts activities (Matarasso, 1996).

This will be undertaken using a realistic evaluation framework and a participatory approach to explore the ‘contexts’, ‘processes’ and ‘outcomes’ (Pawson & Tilly, 1997) of arts activities across projects, providing greater insight into the potential of arts activities for promoting health and well being.
