Manchester Institute for Research and Innovation in Art and Design (MIRIAD) provides the structures for research in Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. Focussed on design and the expressive arts, it supports applied and practice-led research in the creative industries on local, national and global levels.
MIRIAD supports over 100 research active staff with an annual core budget of £1.2 million and £55 million investment in subject facilities. We host one of the largest art and design research degree programmes in the UK with 95 postgraduate researchers and we have attracted over £3 million in external funding since 2008.
MIRIAD is organised into six Research Centres:
