- Interests - Christian-Muslim artistic and cultural interaction in the Middle Ages,
particularly during the period if the Crusades. This involves interconnections between
Byzantium, Islam and the Mediaeval West. Special areas of interest include wall painting, icons
and the production of illustrated manuscripts in the Eastern Mediterranean, especially Egypt,
Syria and the Holy Land.
