Art and Media Arts Research Centre

The focus of the research centre's interest are practice-based activities typified by individual creative production. The membership of the centre is drawn from the research and academic staff of the Department of Art and Media, representing two main disciplinary cultures, contemporary fine and public art, and lens-based and electronic media. Two full-time Research Fellows, David Brittain and Dr. Amanda Ravetz, are attached to the Centre.

Current Projects

REACT, a joint PhD and research initiative between MMU and the University of Salford initiated by Andrea Zapp. It represents a major centre of practice-based research and postgraduate training in the field of art and creative technology. REACT functions as a unique research identity and hub of resources, manifested as a virtual centre through an interactive and comprehensive web site environment.

"Perimeters, boundaries and borders" is an international exhibition of contemporary art and design practice. It is especially concerned with object and spatially orientated disciplines, the use of digital technologies and the convergence of sculpture, product design and architecture.
